Digital LED technology provides a canvas on nearly any surface and complements airport architecture. Airports can place it around the door, behind the ticket agents, on a column, or even on a curved space - anywhere with the intent to draw travelers’ eyes.
Our Daktronics tradeshow booth at the annual American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) conference showcased an at-the-gate application. Digital LED technology wrapped around the door-sized opening to a pseudo jet bridge. The vibrant content was designed specifically for this event by Art of Context. The digital display featured video of specific destinations overlayed with flight information as well as traveler updates including instructions signed by an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter.
Establish an immersive atmosphere
By necessity, travelers spend a lot of time waiting in the gate area. Interesting content can provide a welcome distraction and create an experience by providing images and video of the travelers’ destination. By showing beautiful imagery, motion graphics and even interactive content, airports can create an immersive experience for travelers, which leads to a more pleasant experience.
Airports can schedule this content as the gate is used for various destinations, creating a unique journey for every flight.
Provide clear information
LED displays are also an ideal canvas for providing crystal clear information to travelers in real time. From expected arrivals, departures and flight information to standby lists and connection details, travelers will have all the pertinent communication they require right in front of their eyes.
Engaging LED technology can also be used to communicate in several languages, including American Sign Language (ASL) – maximizing accessibility and aiding in ADA compliance efforts.
Your Daktronics aviation team is eager to provide solutions to the airport industry, showcasing how LED display technology can be used throughout facilities. The team is supported by a dedicated group of professionals at Daktronics, including regional sales, the ProAV team and a host of engineers.
