The U.S. Supreme Court’s recent 2018 ruling striking down a 25-year old federal law known as the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) that largely outlawed sports betting outside of Nevada, now gives states the go-ahead to legalize sports gambling. As states (such as New Jersey, Delaware, Mississippi, New York, Pennsylvania and West Virginia are rumored to be some of the first) begin their own deliberations with how and what they will allow moving forward, many racing, casino and sporting event venues are now thinking about how they can incorporate sports and race books into their spaces.
Sportsbooks, or race and sports books, must keep bettors informed and entertained 24/7, so they need the latest, most reliable and dynamic A/V equipment. Video screens, interactive betting stations, odds, and spaces to experience games, matches, races, food and drink, are all needed to capture their attention and keep them there.
DESIGNED, ENGINEERED, ASSEMBLED & SUPPORTED IN SOUTH DAKOTA
Daktronics NPP (Narrow Pixel Pitch) or fine pitch LED video gives decision teams the unique opportunity to rethink the traditional sportsbook experience model by implementing the latest in indoor LED video technology. The product line is designed, developed, assembled and supported exclusively in the United States at our Brookings, SD campus. It’s where we design, develop and house our NPP circuit board assembly, electronics assembly, metal fabrication, welding, painting, testing and shipping—from the component level to final assembly.
We invite any interested customer, integrator or design team to visit and tour our Brookings, SD, campus to experience both our facilities, product reliability lab and NPP LED video factory space in person.
STADIUMS & ARENAS MAY ALSO EMBRACE SPORTSBOOKS
FanDuel recently announced that it will open a 5,300-square-foot sportsbook with 10 tellers and 27 televisions at the Meadowlands Racetrack. The New Jersey location is next to MetLife Stadium, home of the New York Giants and Jets. An intriguing development, but how sportsbooks will develop and intermingle with stadiums, arenas, leagues and teams is still up in the air. We certainly will be watching how that develops.
One thing is for sure, there is no doubt that NPP products will be part of the sportsbook mix moving forward into the future. They go above and beyond expectations when it comes to uptime as they are specifically designed and engineered for high-use applications that operate 24/7, such as the needs of a sportsbook.
And, they’re bright when they need to be.
Sportsbooks can sometimes be dimly lit or be located within spaces that occasionally experience higher ambient light. To combat these conditions, higher brightness and deeper contrast dramatically improve visual quality by making images sharper and colors more saturated. Our high-intensity NPP products only feature premium light-emitting diodes and display electronics that can be set at 1,500 nits’ peak brightness if needed and help create the dynamic atmosphere sportsbooks expect.
Plus, you can finally kiss those bezels goodbye.
Compared to LCD screens, NPP displays offer sportsbooks a clear, bezel free viewing experience. Which is a huge selling point of the product and something the industry has been wanting and waiting for. Fine pitch LED video also maintains high brightness levels throughout the life of the system – making the product ideal for broadcast quality expectations.
When it comes to capturing attention of both the casual and seasoned gambler, today’s NPP or fine pitch LED video technologies provide the best image quality and performance longevity for sports and race book applications.
