The following are best practices with preventing unplanned updates with your Daktronics Windows 10 computer. 

Steps

Prior to an event

  1. Look for pending updates
    1. To check for updates, Select the Start button, then select Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update . 
    2. If there are updates, choose to install or delay the updates.  See: How can I defer / delay a Windows 10 update on my Daktronics computer?
  2. If updates are not listed, check for manual updates.
    • Select the Start button, then select Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update . To check updates manually, select Check for updates.

  3. Verify any updates marked "pending install" or "pending restart".

    1. If there are updates, choose to install or delay the updates.  See: How can I defer / delay a Windows 10 update on my Daktronics computer?

    2. After you have installed/delayed those, check again, because there may be more updates to install.  Updates can be pushed in batches, there might be more then one if your computer needs a lot of updates. 

Other options to check

Note: If the computer is off, it will look for updates at the time of startup.  It is best to leave the system on and connected to the internet for automatic updates.
