For images see: Venus Media: What graphics and images can be used with Venus Control Suite?

Steps

🔽Use the arrows to open and collapse the following sections

Standard Settings
  • Color mode:  Save as RGB.
  • Resolution:  72 DPI (dots per inch).
  • Pixel Aspect Ratio:  Square
    • Height and Width of the Display in Pixels (e.g. 32x112 = 32x112 pixels), do not use inches or feet.

Video Settings

  • Video Frame Rate:  30 FPS
  • Video Color Depth:  24 bit RGB
  • Video Bit Rate:  +9000

Recommended Animated File Format is MP4 with H.264 Codec.

Other Acceptable Animated File Formats

  • Uncompressed AVI files at 29.97 frames per second
  • MOV (with Animation Codec for best quality)
  • Daktronics VMPF Files (Not Compatible with DWP embedded player on commercial LCD displays)
  • HTML / .uri files for web page playback
  • ZIP
Other Content Considerations
  • Unsupported - QuickTime/RLE (Often labeled as Lossless in Adobe AfterEffects) is not supported.
  • Dimensions - Venus Control Suite will allow you to upload any file dimensions. It is recommended to upload files that match the display pixel matrix or no larger than 3x the display dimensions.
  • Length - The optimal length for content is less than 15 seconds.  This allows for the message to be conveyed effectively to the greatest number of spectators before their attention is focused elsewhere.
  • Transitions - All content should loop, or transition smoothly in time for the end, back to the beginning in case it runs multiple times consecutively.
  • Audio - If audio is available, the required format is uncompressed (PCM).  Audio should be interleaved with the video frames of the video file.  The file should be preload 500ms - 2 seconds of audio before the video starts and the audio should be interleaved between each frame of the video.  Audio can be mono or stereo, but surround sound modes are not currently supported.
  • Backgrounds - Text and logos should appear in front of a contrasting background.  Predominantly white backgrounds should be avoided as they tend to be bright and wash out the accompanying logos/images.
  • When using Cloud hosted Venus Web Editor should be used for Content creation
  • DWP embedded player on commercial LCD displays is not compatible with Daktronics Content Studio.
Large Video File Support for cloud hosted environments

Large video file upload sizes are subscription dependent.

  • Venus Basic - 2GB video max
  • Venus Select - 5GB video max
  • Venus Professional - 10GB video max
  • Venus Enterprise - 20GB video max
This is specific to video files; all other file types remain at 2GB.

Video upload behaviors
  • Resumability - In case the tab closes or the internet connection drops during the upload, users can resume from the point of interruption. They need to log back in and reselect the file they were uploading to proceed. (This works for up to 7 days.)
  • Retries- If the internet connection disrupts during the upload, Venus Media Library will try to reconnect and continue the upload process up to five times, with a 30-second interval between each retry.
