Receiving error when attempting to install/uninstall Venus 1500 or Venus 7000; Previous installation preventing new installation.

Potential Symptoms

  • When installing a software like V1500 V4 or V7000, receiving error:
    • Error 1316.A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file C:\WINDOWS\Installer\<software name>.msi

    • Error 1606. Could not access network location

Cause

  • This message usually means a previous installation of a software is getting in the way of the new installation.

Resolution

Run the Microsoft Fix It tool. Please note that Daktronics Technical Support does not assist or troubleshoot the Microsoft Fix It Tool, use at your own discretion.

  1. Go to  http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
  2. Click Run Now.
    1. Either save and run or run the file.
  3. Click Agree to the terms.
  4. Click Detect Problems and apply the fixes for me (Recommended).
  5. Click Installing.
  6. Choose the affected software from the list and click Next.
  7. Click Yes, try uninstall.
  8. Once completed or after computer has rebooted, run the software installer again.
