How do I give rights to all the Venus 1500 v3 Folders and Registry?

 

Environment

  • Venus 1500 3.12
  • Windows XP or Vista

Resolution

Log into the computer as a user with Full Administrator Rights or as the Administrator.

Step 1: Give Users full rights to Daktronics Folders.
  1. Give rights to the Daktronics folder located in each path:
    • C:\Program Files
    • Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data
    • Windows Vista (7 and 8 not supported): C:\Program Data
  2. Right-click on the Daktronics folder and choose Properties.
  3. Choose Security Tab
  4. Make sure Administrators, Users and Power Users has Full Control by checking the Full Control box.
  5. Click Apply and click Ok.
  • If users are not listed, or if you want to add a specific user, perform the following:
    1. Click Add.
    2. Type in the word Users or type the User Name.
    3. Click Check Names.
      1. This should find the User profile, if not, check the name again or try a different name.
    4. Click Ok.
    5. When User Profile is added to the list, check the Full Control box.
    6. Click Apply and click Ok.
Step 2: Give Users full right to Daktronics folders in HKEY Registry.

  1. Go to the Windows Registry:
    1. Windows XP: Go to Windows Start Menu -> Run -> Type Regedit -> Ok
    2. Windows Vista: Go to Windows Start Menu -> Type Regedit -> Click on Regedit from the filtered options in the start menu.
  2. Locate the Daktronics Folder in the following registry locations:
    • Go to HKEY LOCAL MACHINE -> Software
    • Go to HKEY CURRENT USER -> Software
  3. Right-click on each Daktronics folder and choose Permissions.
  4. Make sure Administrators, Users and Power Users has Full Control by checking the Full Control box.
  5. Click Apply and click Ok.
    • If users are not listed, or if you want to add a specific user, perform the following:
      1. Click Add.
      2. Type in the word Users or type the User Name.
      3. Click Check Names.
        1. This should find the User profile, if not, check the name again or try a different name.
      4. Click Ok.
      5. When User Profile is added to the list, check the Full Control box.
      6. Click Apply and click Ok.
