Jenny Craig Pavilion Revitalizes Visual Experience for University of San Diego with Eight Daktronics LED Displays

New centerhung video system and ribbon displays added for 2024 fall season

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Sept. 4, 2024 – Revitalizing the visual experience at Jenny Craig Pavilion, the University of San Diego selected Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, to deliver a new centerhung LED video display system as well as new end-court ribbon displays. The installation was completed in time for commencement celebrations held in the venue.  The new displays are controlled by Daktronics Show Control which is integrated into the existing end-wall video displays for a fully immersive experience.

“The completion of the renovations to the Jenny Craig Pavilion demonstrates our commitment to enhancing the experience for our student-athletes and fans,” said USD Associate Vice President and Executive Director of Athletics Kimya Massey. “With these upgrades, the JCP now stands as one of the premier venues in the West Coast Conference and will have a lasting impact on our men’s and women’s basketball teams, as well as our volleyball team, by providing them with top-tier facilities that elevate their training, performance, and overall experience at USD. I am grateful to Jenny Craig and her family for their continued generosity and support of our program. We are confident these improvements will significantly enrich our programs and create an unmatched game-day atmosphere from the moment fans step into the Pavilion.”

Centerhung Display Details
The centerhung system consists of six displays with four main video displays and two underbelly video displays.
•    Centerhung baseline: two displays each measuring 10 feet high by 16.5 feet wide
•    Centerhung sideline: two displays each measuring 13 feet high by 23 feet wide
•    Centerhung underbelly: two displays each measuring 2.5 feet high by 18 feet wide

All six displays feature 3.9-millimeter pixel spacing to bring crisp, clear imagery to fans throughout the arena. The main displays will provide an improved overall viewing experience while the underbelly displays will cater to those fans sitting closer to the action. These displays feature variable content zoning allowing them to show one large image or to be divided into multiple zones of content to show any combination of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, graphics, animations and sponsorship messages.

“We are excited to continue our partnership with the University of San Diego with this exciting addition to Jenny Craig Pavilion,” said Daktronics Project Executive Luke Tingle. “This additional LED will bring even more excitement on game day and at other events for years to come. As part of this installation, we provided our latest Show Control features which not only control the LED displays but can trigger centerhung accent lighting, new sports lighting and audio systems with a press of a single button.”

Additional Display Details
Bringing more dynamic content and messaging, two additional ribbon displays are being installed at Jenny Craig Pavilion. These ribbon displays are being mounted to the seating fascia to bring supplemental graphics and animations, each featuring a 10-millimeter pixel spacing and measuring 2.5 feet high by 67 feet wide.

Tying all the digital displays together will be an updated custom Daktronics control solution featuring Show Control. This provides a powerful user interface to allow for one-button display coordination and multiple options for the production team to put on the desired show for events of any size and scope held at the venue.

In addition to the equipment installation, the University of San Diego will also receive a content package that will be produced and delivered by Daktronics Creative Services.
