Harvard University Brings New Centerhung System from Daktronics to Life Inside Bright-Landry Hockey Arena
Four-display system with Daktronics Show Control brings added flexibility and excitement to live events
BROOKINGS, S.D. – Nov. 15, 2024 – Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, has once again worked with local partner, Scoreboard Enterprises, and Harvard University to deliver an LED video display system to the historic Bright-Landry Hockey Center on the Athletic Campus of Harvard University in the Allston neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. The four-display centerhung system with Daktronics Show Control was installed this summer to be ready for the 2024 fall sports season to begin.
“Video boards are an essential part of the in-game experience in our facilities. Our fans enjoy watching replays and taking part in promotions and games on the boards. These new Daktronics displays are better than our fans have ever seen in our venues. They allow us to do so much more and make the game-day experience so much more enjoyable,” said Imry Halevi, senior associate director of athletics at Harvard.
“Scoreboard Enterprises, Inc. is proud to partner with Daktronics and Havard University athletics to provide a state-of-the-art, impactful Daktronics video display system at Bright-Landy Hockey Arena,” said Mark Hurley at Scoreboard Enterprises. “Scoreboard Enterprises and Daktronics together built the design and concept to transform Harvard’s vision for the arena from a concept to reality. The new state-of-the-art video display elevates the experience for not only the fans but also the student-athletes. Thank you to Daktronics and Harvard University for another successful project.”
Centerhung Video Display Details
The centerhung display system features four individual video boards facing each side of the venue. Each display measures approximately 11.5 feet high by 15.7 feet wide and features custom curved LED wedges to form a seamless 360-degree video display. These displays feature 3.9-millimeter pixel spacing to deliver excellent image clarity and contrast to fans in every seat of the arena.
Each of these displays are capable of variable content zoning allowing each to show one large image or they can be divided into multiple zones of content to deliver all the information fans expect at every event. This includes any combination of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, game information, graphics, animations and sponsorship messages.
“Daktronics is proud to work with our partner, Scoreboard Enterprises, and the Harvard Athletics Department on this exciting project in such a historic venue. The new displays will complement the excitement of the home crowd and provide amazing resolution to all areas of the venue,” said Peter Dunkle, Daktronics sales representative.
Harvard also features two new LED ribbon displays located on the fascia behind each goal line. Each ribbon display is 2.5 feet high by 49 feet wide and features a 3.9-millimeter pixel spacing to display headshots, game-in-progress information and crisp, clear messaging.
Daktronics also included a complete Show Control solution. This industry-leading control system provides a combination of display control software, world-class video processing, data integration and playback hardware that forms a powerful yet user-friendly production solution.
