Augustana University Upgrades Facilities with Daktronics Displays
Midco Arena, Kirkeby-Over Stadium ready for improved fan experience
BROOKINGS, S.D. – Apr. 8, 2024 – Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, has continued a long partnership with Augustana University with the installation of a centerhung display system at the newly opened Midco Arena and plan for a revamped end zone display at Kirkeby-Over Stadium in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The arena installation was completed early in 2024 and is currently entertaining audiences while the end zone display installation is slated for this summer.
“As a premier university in South Dakota, it means a lot to work closely with a premiere company in our state that is also the industry leader,” said Josh Morton, vice president for athletics at Augustana University. “We pride ourselves on providing a first-class fan experience and know how valuable a video board can be. The Midco Arena centerhung was a big hit in our inaugural season and our football fans will be wowed when they see the new board in September.”

A centerhung display system was added to the arena with four video displays, one facing each direction of the seating areas. Each display measures approximately 11.5 feet high by 16.5 feet wide and features 5.9-millimeter pixel spacing to deliver crisp, clear imagery to audiences at every event.
Along with the video displays, fixed-digit scoreboards and hockey goal lights were installed to ensure fans are informed of all the critical information associated with each event.

Inside Augustana’s football stadium, the end zone video display will be replaced with a new screen featuring a 15HD pixel layout and measuring more than 19 feet high by 49 feet wide. This installation brings a refreshed appearance with excellent image clarity and contrast for Vikings fans and student-athletes.
“Having the opportunity to be a part of Midco Arena and the first Division I hockey program in the state of South Dakota has been exciting for the entire Daktronics team,” said Matt Warnke, Daktronics sales representative. “When looking ahead to the next installation at Augustana University, it will be great to have the same impact on an already great game-day environment at Kirkby-Over Stadium this fall.”
Each video display provided in these projects is capable of variable content zoning allowing each to show one large image or to be divided into multiple zones to show all the content, statistics, video and graphics that fans crave during live events.
