Pioneer Stadium Ready for the First All-video Display in Oregon's High School History
BROOKINGS, S.D. – Feb. 27, 2018 – Oregon City High School is soon to welcome a digital video display for Pioneer Stadium, designed and manufactured by Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota. The display will be the first in Oregon High School history to have full video capabilities.
Pioneer Stadium is undergoing a large-scale renovation with new turf, an updated track and now the video display capable of live feeds. It will measure 28 feet wide by 16 feet high with 15-millimeter line spacing.
Plans are for Oregon City to fundraise utilizing Daktronics Sports Marketing plans. Students will operate the video display as part of the Career Technical Education program, using curriculum as educational material. In turn, the expectation is growth for the audio/visual class.
"Oregon City had been looking at other video competitors of ours," said Alex Barrett, Daktronics Sports Marketing Representative. "But, they understood if their students were to go to college or pursue a career working with this equipment, it would most likely be a Daktronics display at the college and professional levels. Students running the board ensures it is being utilized to its full potential, meets sponsor and advertisement agreements and offers hands-on experience with a tangible education."
The high school will also feast their ears on something new at the football games next year. Sportsound will accompany the new video board to get fans on their feet and off their seats, bringing the game-day experience to a whole new level.
Additionally, the school will receive a bank of hours for the creation of digital content to be produced and delivered by Daktronics Creative Services.
