South Dakota State University Foundation and Daktronics Partner for High-Resolution LED Display Installation

Two new displays welcome guests to the Alumni Center

BROOKINGS, S.D. – May 7, 2018 – A new look has come to South Dakota State University's (SDSU) Alumni Center as Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, continues a long-standing relationship with the school for two new high-resolution LED video displays. The installation was completed this spring and is currently welcoming guests to the building.

"This is a very exciting final piece of the new Alumni Center puzzle," said Andi Fouberg, President and CEO of the SDSU Alumni Association. "When the vision for the Alumni Center addition to the Lohr Foundation Building was conceived, video displays within Woster Celebration Hall were part of that vision. It is hard to imagine a better partner for this project than Daktronics, a company that can draw its beginnings to the area these boards now call home."

“We took this great opportunity to continue our long-standing partnership with SDSU by installing one of our latest products, a narrow pixel pitch LED video display,” said Daktronics CEO Reece Kurtenbach. “This is a new generation of products for close viewing, with broad applications in many areas outside of sports arenas – where many people associate our indoor products. The Alumni Center is the perfect place to showcase these capabilities, as well as keeping SDSU on the cutting edge of technology.

"We are excited to celebrate the 50th year of Daktronics by going back to where we began 50 years ago. As we look to the future, we anticipate many more years of partnership with the university."

One LED display features a narrow pixel pitch of 2.5 millimeters. It measures 9 feet high by 16 feet wide. The second display features 4-millimeter line spacing and measures more than 8 feet high by 15.5 feet wide.

These displays are high-resolution and with extremely close viewing distances. They can show live and recorded video, announcements, creative content and other imagery to create any intended atmosphere. They are capable of variable content zoning which allows each to show one large image or zoned images to share multiple messages across the display.

Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with consistent, industry-leading performance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
