Del Mar Thoroughbred Club Continues To Improve Video Experience With Daktronics
BROOKINGS, S.D. – July 14, 2017 – Del Mar Thoroughbred Club has once again turned to Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, to manufacture and install 11th LED video display at the venue in California this spring. The new 8-millimeter display improves on the previous 10-millimeter display and brings roughly 735 square feet of display space that will first be used on opening day, July 19.
"Our fans are going to really appreciate this new look," said Josh Rubinstein, an executive vice president of the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club and its COO. "You'll see a race unfold in extra sharp images even in the bright sunshine we're used to here at Del Mar. This is an upgrade that will make a day at the races all the better."
The display measures nearly 21 feet high by 35 feet wide with a tight 8-millimeter line spacing to bring crisp, clear imagery to viewers while incorporating industry-leading environmental protection to maximize display usage. It is capable of variable content zoning allowing it to show one large image or to be separated into multiple zones to show any combination of live and pre-recorded video, event information, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.
This new display is powered by Daktronics Show Control System with DMP-8300 and VP-6000 technology. This industry-leading control system provides a combination of display control software, world-class video processing, data integration and playback hardware that forms a user-friendly production solution. Additionally, a 15-millimeter marquee double-sided display and a 19-millimeter display will be added outside the venue to highlight upcoming and current events. The double-sided display measures approximately 9 feet high by 12 feet wide and the other display measures 4 feet high by 5.5 feet wide.
The new installation adds to the previous LED inventory of the venue which includes a portable 10-millimeter display that was brought on site in 2011 and is versatile in use. It has been used as one display or multiple separate displays located throughout the venue to share messages during special events.
Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with consistent, industry-leading performance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
