Content Studio: How do I make messages to display player in-game information?

Topic

  • Create messages to display player in-game information with a Data Studio Basketball feed.

Environment

  • Product: Content Studio
  • Component: Data Studio Basketball, NBA, Genius Sports, NGSS, Second Spectrum, NCAA Basketball (after Jan 2020 release)
  • Control System: Show Control System (SCS) 2.18 or later

Steps

Determine your data layout

  1. Determine what displays will show real-time data and the type of information that is needed based upon the sources available.
  2. It is helpful to create a background to visually aid design of the data frame. These backgrounds are often created in a separate image rendering program and imported into Content Studio.

Log into Content Studio version 2.0 or later.  (Show Control 2.18 or later is required.)

  1. Login to Content Studio.
    1. Click the Content Studio v2 desktop icon or Start > Daktronics > Content Studio v2 to launch the software.
    2. Click Log In. The default User Name and Password are already entered for the Content Studio Nucleus Server.
  2. Log in to Content Studio with the same User Name and Password for Venus® Control Suite.
  3. Create a Presentation
    1. Start a new presentation in Content Studio.
    2. Add any formatting to the background of the presentation.  This can include adding text, or inserting a background image. For help on importing graphics- See How do I import images or videos into Content Studio, DD1995364,  or YouTube- Getting Started With Graphics).

Add data elements from Basketball: Data Studio (NGSS)

If this category doesn't exist, ensure that Data Studio Basketball is connected and has received and sent a file.

Preview the content.

The preview controls are in the lower right corner.   data Studio NBA content creation5.jpg

In the example below, some of the data is getting cut off because the data is longer.  See: My text appears to be cut off or does not shrink to fit in the element in Content Studio

Adjust the data elements to fit all the player information.  Click on each element and drag the corners to expand the green box to expose the yellow edges of the data element.

There is also a shrink to fit option that would be helpful to fit names into one space.  See: My text appears to be cut off or does not shrink to fit in the element in Content Studio
