Font causes undesired extra space above, below, or between lines of text.

Potential Symptoms

  • Text in a text box appears incorrectly justified in Content Studio or Web Presentation, with incorrect spacing above, below, or between lines.
  • Adjusting spacing between lines in Web Presentation using a negative number in "line spacing" creates a gap above the top line that cannot be made smaller without cutting off part or all of the bottom line.
  • Issue also present when selecting all caps, which does not require space for ascenders or descenders (portions above or below such as the top of h or bottom of y).
  • Amount of extra space, and area where extra space present, varies between fonts.
  • Content creator may be using multiple text boxes with same font, size and color, because the gaps between lines are otherwise too large or hard to control.

    Cause

    • Fonts have different vertical distance between lines. 

    Resolution

    • Choose a font with less undesired extra space above, below, or between lines of text.
    • Alternatively, use a separate text box for each line of content.
