Topic

  • How to measure incoming voltage for a FL-3000 gas price display.

Environment

  • Product: FL-3000
  • Components: Incoming power, power supply
  • Control System:

Steps

  1. To fully understand FL-3000 power requirements, installation, and grounding click here and review section 3 of the FL-3000 installation manual, DD2238839.
  2. Locate incoming power quick connect harness on the power supply and disconnect from the power supply.

    • Note: If your power supplies do not have a quick connect harness you will have to measure incoming power off the main power disconnect
  3. Understand the color code for incoming electrical:
    • Black - Line(hot)
    • White - Neutral
    • Green - Ground
  4. Understand the voltage requirements for your display (this can be found on the display product label). If you cannot locate this information, call Daktronics help desk at 800-325-8766.
    • Most standard US displays require 110-120VAC.
  5. Measure voltage between Line(hot) to Ground, Line(hot) to Neutral, and Neutral to Ground.
    • Hot to Ground and Hot to Neutral should correlate to the power requirements of the display.
    • Neutral to Ground should theoretically be 0VAC but can be tolerated up to 5% of incoming voltage. (6VAC if incoming voltage is 120VAC)
    • Example: The incoming voltage requirement for my display is 120VAC.
      • Hot to Ground(Black and Green): 120VAC
      • Hot to Neutral(Black and White): 120VAC
      • Neutral to Ground(White and Green): 0VAC
