VFC: How to export logs

  • How do I pull the logs from the VFC controller?

Steps

Only if directed by helpdesk, do the following:
2 Options:

1. How to pull the logs using the web browser. Note: This can be used on controllers installed inside of the sign or in the traffic cabinet.

  1. Type the controllers IP address in place of the X's. http://XX.XX.XX.XX/ntcip/backup/logs
  2. This will automatically zip the files.
  3. Save them to a location, so you can attach it to an email.
  4. Send the zip file to transportationhelp@daktronics.com


2. How to pull logs directly at the controller using a flash drive.

  1. Connect the flash drive to the back of the VFC controller J3.
  2. Login to the VFC by selecting the sign.
  3. Enter the password and press enter.
  4. Select Shared.
  5. Select Backup.
  6. Select Export.
  7. Select Logs.
  8. Select Confirm.
  9. Wait for the status to change to Success.
  • The logs contain the previous 7 days of information. If a firmware update or reboot was performed before pulling the logs, then some of the information can be lost. It is good practice to pull the logs before performing any updates or reboots.
  • When sending logs in, be specific as to when the error happened, including time & date of the incident, this helps narrow down the search.
