Unable to connect to message center display with Ethernet communication, Incorrect IP address.

Potential Symptoms

  • Venus is unable to connect to Message Center display even though the computer network adapter is configured properly for communication.

Environment

  • Products:
  • Components: Ethernet based communication such as Ethernet Bridge Radio (EBR), Fiber Ethernet, or Ethernet Wire.
  • Control System: Venus 1500 V3, Venus 1500 V4, M2Config

Cause

  • Incorrect IP address entered in display configuration.
    • DHCP name entered in Venus instead of static IP address; but sign is set to a static IP address.
    • Static IP address entered in Venus instead of DHCP name but sign is set to DHCP (IP address of sign can change if power is lost).
    • No IP address entered in Venus, section is blank.
    • IP address entered into Venus formatted incorrectly or does not contain 4 octets (e.g. 192.168.151 when it should say 192.168.1.51).
    • IP address entered has a "," entered between octets rather than a "."
    • Static IP address entered in Venus does not match the static IP address in the controller.
