No Communication to SmartLink with SmartLink Monitor App, MOXA driver not installed

Potential Symptoms

  • All information under the status tab in the application is reporting "Not Available."
  • Numerous Errors reported in the Log tab.
  • Clicking Get Status under the Settings tab results in "no response from the device within the timeout period."
  • MOXA USB Serial Port is not listed under Ports (COM & LPT) in the Device Manager.

Cause

  • MOXA USB Serial Port driver is not installed.

Resolution

  1. Install MOXA USB Serial Port driver.
    1. Driver can be found at the following site or on the CD (driver disk) that came with the MOXA adapter: Alternatly, the driver can be located and downloaded from https://www.moxa.com/en/products .  
    2. Double click on the Uport.exe installation file, and follow the steps to install the driver.
  2. Once installed, check the Device Manage for MOXA USB Serial Port listed under Ports (COM & LPT) to find the correct port number.
  3. Under the Settings tab on the SmartLink monitor, select the correct port number for the MOXA, and click Get Status.
  4. Status will return as Successful Connection.
