Scoreboard: ColorSmart equipment showing incorrect or missing data; Driver not receiving full config data

Potential Symptoms

  • Scoreboard has blank digits, incorrect/missing data.
  • Shot Clock has blank digits, incorrect/missing data.
  • Stat Panel has blank digits, incorrect/missing data.
  • TNMC has blank digits, incorrect/missing data.
  • Electronic Caption has blank digits, incorrect/missing data.
  • Light strips will not turn on.

Environment

  • Product Family: Sports Product
  • Product: ColorSmart Scoreboard
    • Identified by BB-31xx or SD-31xx model number
  • Component: Wireless communication
  • Control System: All Sport 5500 radio console w/ firmware 4.0.3 or lower

Cause

  • Configuration packet not being received by the scoreboard driver.

Resolution

  • Use an All Sport 5500 console with firmware version 4.0.4 or greater.  Contact Daktronics Technical Support to order a replacement All Sport 5500 console.

For Temporary Operation

Option #1:

  • Use wired communication between the All Sport 5500 and scoreboard.  This is the best option to ensure the scoreboard displays all information.
    1. Turn off the All Sport 5500
    2. Connect wired signal from All Sport 5500 to scoreboard.
    3. Power All Sport 5500 on.
    4. Chose "No" to the resume game question.
    5. Enter the correct sport code.
    6. Enter thru radio settings.

Option #2:

  1. Power off the All Sport console and leave it turned off for 30 seconds.
  2. Power the All Sport console on using the switch on the back of the control console.
  3. Wait 15 seconds
  4. Press CLEAR/NO when the console prompts to resume game.
  5. Wait 15 seconds.
  6. Enter in the normal operation code (e.g. 1101) and press ENTER.
  7. Wait 15 seconds.
  8. Enter the radio settings.  Press the Clear/No key to modify and enter the radio Broadcast and Channel settings.
  9. Wait 15 seconds.
  10. Press Enter to accept the radio settings.
  11. Scoreboard displays the correct data.
