Unable to install the D-Link driver, Anti-Virus is blocking the D-Link installation

Potential Symptoms

  • D-Link adapter driver will not install, get error that it is not plugged in, but it is, and multiple USB ports present same result.
  • Adapter is showing up in Device Manager with yellow exclamation (DUB-E100).
  • Issue present whether using driver from Adapter CD or with download from Dakfiles.com.

Environment

  • DUB-E100 Black D-Link USB to Ethernet Adapter.
  • Kaspersky or Avast anti-virus.

Cause

  • Kaspersky anti-virus is blocking the D-Link driver installation.

Resolution

  1. Pause anti-virus for now.
  2. The driver installs successfully.
  3. Confirm that the D-Link adapter is configured appropriately.
  4. Confirm successful connection to the display.
  5. Turn anti-virus protection back on.
  6. Confirm successful connection to the display.
