Daktronics Fusion Service starts then stops again, receive error 'You must call the Bind method before performing this operation.' in the Event Viewer, No D-Link adapter

Potential Symptoms

  • When launching Venus 1500 v4, receive the following error:

    • Nucleus service could not be stopped. Cannot open Daktronics Nucleus Service on computer '.'.

  • When starting the Daktronics Fusion Service it starts and when you refresh the view, it is stopped again.
  • When viewing the Event Viewer Logs for Fusion, you see the following error:
    • You must call the Bind method before performing this operation.

Environment

  • Venus 1500 v4.18 and greater
  • Daktronics Fusion Server
  • Computer LAN Adapter (NIC)

Cause

  • The computer LAN adapter (NIC) is configured to have duplicate or two IP addresses. For example (172.16.192.20 and 172.16.192.25).

How to confirm if a Duplicate issue from COMMAND PROMPT:
  1. Go to Windows Start Menu.
    1. Windows XP - Click Run, type CMD and click Ok.
    2. Windows Vista, 7 - In Search Programs and Files type CMD, right-click CMD and choose Run as Administrator.
    3. Windows 8 - From customers computer keyboard, hold down Windows Key then press letter "R" to bring up the Run command, Type CMD, then press Enter on keyboard
  2. In Command Prompt, type Ipconfig /all and hit [Enter].
  3. In the IP Configurations, look for a Network adapter that lists both a Preferred and a Duplicate IP Address.
