When publishing to my display I am getting a message asking if I want to overwrite presentations, what does this do?
Topic
- When I publish playlist to my display I am getting a message:
- Presentations that are scheduled to run will be automatically sent with the schedule. Do you with to overwrite presentations that may already exist on the destination display(s)?
- How do I understand the meaning of the Overwrite Messages prompt?
Environment
- Venus 1500 v4
Steps
- This message may, or may not appear depending on your software settings. When enabled, you will receive the overwrite prompt, and be asked Yes or No. See below for explanation of Yes or No, to determine what is best based on individual needs.
- Yes - When clicking yes, this prompt will resend every presentation out to the display; whether it is already out there or not, and overwrite with any possible changes.
- You only need to click Yes, if you changed the context of a presentation such as: a spelling error, the color of text, added more details to the presentation, etc. and you leave it as the same exact name as before.
- When you do not change the name you need to click yes, so it will resend the same presentation and overwrite what is currently running out on the display.
- When clicking yes, and republishing all presentations out to display, depending on communication can take longer times to publish content.
- No - When clicking no, this prompt will only send changes made to the schedules such as dates or times, send new presentations added to playlists and/or remove old presentations that were removed from an existing playlist.
- This will not resend any presentations that are already running or are sent to the display.
- When clicking no, this helps save publishing time since it is only sending playlist changes or added/remove presentations.
