How do I tell what type of Windows Operating System my computer is running?

Steps
Below you will see how find what version of Windows your computer is using; What version of that Windows (Home, Basic, Professional etc.) as well as what Service Pack and the Bit System.
How to get to the System Information or Properties
- Go to Windows Start Menu, right-click on My Computer or Computer and choose Properties.
- From the System Properties window you can see what Operating System you are currently running and the Service Pack.
Windows XP
If it says nothing about the system type, such as 64 Bit, this means you are running a 32 Bit System.
Windows Vista
Windows 7
Windows 8
Windows 8 out of the box no longer has a traditional Windows Start Menu like previous Windows Systems. Follow directions below on how to find the System Information or Properties.
- On the Keyboard, press the Windows Logo Key and start typing Control Panel.
- This will start searching the Windows Apps.
- Under Apps Results, click on Control Panel.
- From Control Panel window, click on System.
