"This display does not appear to be a Daktronics device"; IP of computer and display are the same
Potential Symptoms
- Not able to connect to display.
- Running troubleshooting wizard in Venus 1500 V4 results in the following error message: "This display does not appear to be a Daktronics device."
Environment

Cause
- The IP address or Default Gateway of the computer NIC is set to the same address as the display's IP address.
Resolution
- When doing a Direct Ethernet connection from computer to sign, the sign should be left on the default IP address values.
- Set computer up to work with the default IP values of the sign How to set a static IP on my computer's NIC or USB to Ethernet adapter?, DD2016625.
- Note: Daktronics default IP for Galaxy displays is 172.16.192.25 with a Subnet mask of 255.255.0.0 (A Default Gateway value is not needed with a direct Ethernet connection).
