Unable to communicate after changing IP address of display; Computer IP not on same subnet

Potential Symptoms

  • Unable to re-connect to display using M2config after successfully changing display controller IP address using M2config.
  • Unable to ping new display IP address.

Environment

  • Product: Galaxy
  • Component: Ethernet Communication, Laptop/PC directly connected to communication equipment (not going through a network)
  • Control System:

Cause

  • IP address of display was changed on the display controller but IP address on Laptop/PC was not changed to new IP settings.

Resolution

  1. Change IP address of Laptop/PC to an IP address on the same subnet as the new display controller IP address (How to set a static IP on my computer? DD2016625).
  2. Try to connect in M2config again.
