No communication, Low memory alert in Venus, Fragmented memory high

Potential Symptoms

Unable to communicate to the display.
Time and date information on the display may be off.
Cycling power restores communication in Venus, but Venus gives an alert concerning low memory.
Messages running on display may run slow.
When trying to send a new message to the display, the controller will lock up causing communication due to insufficient memory for the new message.

Product: Galaxy AF-31XX, AF-32XX, AF-34XX
Component: Controller
Control System: Venus 1500 V3 or V4

Cause

Most of the memory was in use or fragmented (i.e. lots of deleted files) . Free memory was very low.
This can be verified by looking at the status/checking the memory bar once communication is restored.

Resolution

Cycle power to the display to restore communication.
Perform a memory cleanup/defrag to free up memory.
