DMP-8000: How do I integrate live video with a DMP that has a capture card

Potential Symptoms

  • What kinds of video does a DMP-8000 take?
    • Depending on the kind of DMp-8000; Composite, S-video, Component, SDI, HD-SDI
  • How can you setup video into a DMP-8000?

Environment

  • Product: DMP-8000 / VNet
  • Components: video configuration
  • Control System: Custom video system

Cause

Some DMP-8000 hardware is equipped with a video capture card. The source option will select the capture card in the system. In systems with more than one capture card, say a Black Magic DeckLink and Intensity Pro, the way you differentiate between the two is with the number you use after "tvtuner". Generally, the Intensity Pro card will be 1 and the DeckLink card will be 2

Resolution

Composite:

  • This is an analog signal.
  • Connect a video source to the Composite input on the Black Magic DeckLink card:  Composite video is connected using the Green- Y In cable.

Create a VMPL

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<vmpl>
<video videosrc="composite" src="tvtuner2" />
</vmpl>
For more information, see DMP-8000 will not show composite video

S-video

  • This is an analog signal.
  • Connect a video source to the S-video input on the Black Magic DeckLink card:  S-Video is connected using the Red- R-Y In and the Green- Y In

Create a VMPL

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<vmpl>
<video videosrc="s-video" src="tvtuner2" />
</vmpl>

Component

Create a VMPL

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<vmpl>
<video videosrc="component" src="tvtuner2" format="720p60"/>
</vmpl>

SDI

  • This is a digital signal.
  • Connect a video source to the SDI input on the Black Magic DeckLink card

Create a VMPL

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<vmpl>
<video videosrc="sdi" src="tvtuner2" format="PAL"/>
</vmpl>

HD-SDI

  • This is a digital signal.
  • Connect a video source to the SDI input on the Black Magic DeckL?ink card
  • You have to specify the format for HD-SDI, either 720p or 1080i followed by frame rate

Create a VMPL

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<vmpl>
<video videosrc="sdi" src="tvtuner2" format="720p60"/>
</vmpl>
        -----------OR-----------
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<vmpl>
<video videosrc="component" src="tvtuner2" format="1080i30"/>
</vmpl>
