Avast! Antivirus and Malware program is blocking Venus 1500 v4 from launching

Potential Symptoms

  • Avast! Antivirus and Malware program is blocking Venus 1500 V4 from Installing
  • Venus software will not open, goes straight to username and password.
    • Default username and password will not work.
    • Or it gets hung up on the splash screen loading nucleus service.
  • Nothing in error logs, error logs may not update.
  • May get Venus V4 has encountered a problem and needs to close.
  • May get Content Studio has encountered a problem and needs to close.
  • Receive a username and password prompt when creating or editing a presentation in Content Studio.
  • Running Venus as an administrator yields the same results.
  • Missing TLS 1.0 or TLS 1.1 from Registry.
  • Fusion/Nucleus services frequently disabled automatically.

Cause

  • Avast! is an Antivirus/Malware program. This program is not owned, distributed or supported by Daktronics. If this program is blocking Daktronics programs, such as Venus 1500, this is not supported by Daktronics Software support.

Resolution

  • Uninstall Avast.

You will need to contact the Vendor Avast! at www.avast.com for support on unblocking programs blocked by their program.

  • May need to delete and repair certificates once these have been added to Avast as exceptions.
    • Daktronics Nucleus certificate located in MMC/Trusted Root Certification Authorities folder.
    • Daktronics Fusion certificate located in MMC/Personal folder.
      • May need to move all certificates out of personal folder to get Fusion certificate to generate. Once the Fusion certificate is generated the certificates moved out can be moved back in to the Personal folder.
    • Once the above certificates have been deleted run a repair on Venus 1500 V4.

For Temporary Operation

  • Temporarily disable Avast.
