Venus 7000: How do I backup software settings

Resolution

  1. To create backups .reg files perform the following steps:
    1. From the Venus 7000 shell click Configure.
    2. From the System Configuration box, click Backup and then choose OK.
    3. To find the backup files, open My Computer and browse to the V7000 directory (C:\V7000 or D\V7000).
      1. On Venus 7000 versions 6.3.0.0 or newer, find the "REG_Backups" folder, and sort by the date modified or created to find the exported files. There may be up to 6 .reg files created.
        1. Example list of files you will find (computer name listed will be different for each machine)

      2. On Venus 7000 versions older than 6.3.0.0, these .reg files will be created in the V7000 folder, sort by the date modified or created to find the most recently exported files, there will only be 2 .reg files.
    4. Copy these files ending in .reg someplace you can get them later (i.e. jump drive, email, another computer, etc...).
  2. Next, to backup the settings into a text file for easy reading:
    1. Click Configure  from the Venus 7000 Shell
    2. From the System Configuration box, click Print and choose to Send Report to File
    3. Click OK.
    4. To find the backup files, open My Computer and browse to the V7000 directory (C:\V7000 or D\V7000). Sort by the date modified or created to find the newest file called V7Config.Txt and V7Config.xml
    5. Copy this file to someplace you can get it later (i.e. jump drive, email, another computer, etc...).

      Note: The exported files detailed in this article may be used to restore Venus 7000 settings at a later time.  For assistance with settings restoration or recovery, please call Daktronics Technical Support.
