MyLaps Orbits not outputting to an All Sport 5100

Potential Symptoms

Symptom

  • Only clock data is being sent to the All Sport 5100

Environment

  • Product Family: Sport software and controllers
  • Product: All Sport 5100, Orbits, MyLaps Orbits 4 SP2 Hotfix Q1, transponder interface
  • Components: All Sport code 0333
  • Control System: Oval track racing

Cause

  • In Orbits, running the simulator may only work when there is an active run in the Timing Tab.  If there's no active run then no results will output for the scoreboard feed.

Resolution

  1. Check the following in a terminal program.
  2. If you are only getting the heartbeat, the run is not active. RS232 feed will look something like this:
    • $F,0,"00:00:00","16:20:41","00:00:00","      "
    • $F,0,"00:00:00","16:20:42","00:00:00","      "
  3. Use the Setup tab in Orbits 4 to create a new event.

  4. Click Registration tab and create a new group of racers.

  5.  Click the Timing tab and click create a new run. Then, select the run under "Select a Run."



  6. Close out of the groups and runs if needed.

  7. Start your timing (green flag) F5.

  8. Go to Tools -> Transponder table and verify you have transponders associated to the appropriate number of cars in your simulation race.  If not you might get a prompt like the following if there's a racer without a transponder.


  9. Go under Tools -> Open Track simulator.


  10. Click on start (green flag).
  11. The serial feed should now be feeding the All Sport.
  12. If using transponders you must set up the appropriate club transponders user Tools -> Club Transponder Table.
