  1. Install Wireshark software on the laptop that will be used to find the Daktronics player or video processor device.
  2. Connect the Player or Video Processor directly to the laptop using an Ethernet cable.
  3. Power down the player/processor. (ie: DMP, VIP, DI-6x00, VP-6000)

    • If no adapters are listed, WinPcap may not have been installed and will need to reinstall WireShark.
  5. Click the "Start" button located above the network adapter list or select Start under the "Capture" menu.
  6. A monitor window will appear that will show network traffic (it may be blank until powering on the device).
  7. Power on the DMP, VIP, or 6000 series device (the monitor window should start to show network traffic).
  8. Click the "Statistics" tab from the menu across the top.
  9. Click the End points option from the drop down.
  10. Click the "IPv4" or "IPv6" tab depending on device.
    • Any IP addresses detected on devices (including your laptop) will be listed under the "Address" column.
  11. Make note of the IP shown that is not your laptop.
  12. Adjust laptop IP address, if necessary, to match the first three octets of the discovered device. (ex. 192.168.0.101 and 192.168.0.102 will communicate as the first three sets match.)
  13. Connect to the device using IP address that was previously noted.
