Time is fast or slow on sign and in software; Has not auto synced

Potential Symptoms

  • Display time is fast or slow in Venus 1500 v4.
  • Time is running fast or slow on the display by a few minutes over a month.

Environment

  • Product Family: Message Displays
  • Product: Galaxy
  • Component: M2 Controller based product, Clock source is Onboard RTC
  • Control System: Venus 1500 V4

Cause

  • Displays rely on the auto sync time feature in the software to keep accurate time. If changes to display are not made for several weeks/months the time will slowly calculate off due to each day is not exactly 24 hours.

Resolution

  • One of the options below will sync the time out on the display with the PC time.
    • It is recommended to publish or set time and date to display once every few weeks.

Option 1: Set display up on a time server

Option 2: Republish presentations and playlist.

  1. Launch Venus 1500 v4.
  2. After obtaining automatic status is completed, go to Schedule Tab.
  3. Click Publish or Publish to Display.
  4. Click No to the Overwrite Prompt.
  5. Time will sync to the display after publish is completed.

Option 3: Set time and date from Display Tools.

  1. Launch Venus 1500 v4.
  2. After obtaining automatic status is completed, click on Display Tools (White arrow next to Refresh).
  3. Click on Set Time/Date.
  4. The Time and Date will sync to the display.
