Venus 1500: How do I create and configure a Galaxy display in version 4?

- Computer was replaced or upgraded needing a fresh install of Venus but after installing it, there is no sign information present in the software anymore.
- When launching Venus, get prompt "No displays created...."

Steps
Note: If there is no current physical connection to the display, skip ahead to Manual Creation of Display.
- Launch Venus 1500 V4.
- Click the Orange V application menu and click Configure > Displays.
- If 1st time setup of a display you will be prompted at startup of the software to configure a display and can hit the "yes" option to get to Step 4.
- Click Add Display.
- Allow Auto Discovery to try to discover any displays connected to the Network.
- Follow the process below that matches the discovery results (displays detected or displays not detected by Auto Discovery).
Displays were Detected by Auto Discovery:
- Select the appropriate display from the list, click Continue.
- GalaxyPro series displays, if prompted for Authentication, enter in password.
- For Detected Display Name, type a desired display name.
- Select proper display Time Zone and DST, click Continue.
- See What time zone needs to be selected for Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific, Hawaii or Alaska in the Venus 1500 Software for more information on Time Zones.
- Click Yes if you have more than one display to auto detect, or click No if you only have one Display.
- Review summary of display settings, click Finish.
- Click Yes to the Prompt to start downloading the Media kit, or click No and follow How do I download the Venus 1500 V4 Media Kit? on how to download Media Kit at a later time.
- Close Display Management window.
- Proceed to Select and Connect to Your Display.
No Displays were Detected by Auto Discovery:
- If Auto Discovery doesn't find any displays, click My display is not in the list.
- Click I want to automatically detect a display (this is a different process than Auto Discovery).
- Select the communication method that will be used to communicate with the sign
- Serial Communication should be chosen if the computer will be using a Com port to communicate with the sign.
- Multiple primary displays connected to one serial communication method will utilize different hardware address. I.e. Primary 1/HW1, Primary 2/HW2 etc.
- Ethernet Communication should be chosen if the computer will communicate with the sign via an IP Address.
- Dial-up Communication(ONLY AVAILABLE WITH VENUS 1500 V4.19.2) should be chosen if the computer will be dialing through a phone line to communicate to the display.
- Serial Communication should be chosen if the computer will be using a Com port to communicate with the sign.
- Click Continue.
- If serial communication, select Com port the computer will be communicating from, If it is Ethernet Communication, type in the IP address of the sign, If Dial up Communication, type in the phone number of the sign.
- Click Continue.
- Display should be detected (The Default Name can be left as Display 1 or it can be changed by simply typing in a new name).
- Click Continue.
- Select the Time Zone the display is in and enable Daylight Saving Time (DST) if it is observed in display time zone.
- Click Continue.
- If there is only 1 display <NO> can be selected for the Question "Would you like to automatically detect another display"...If there is another display, select <YES> and follow prompts. Repeat steps above for next display.
- When all displays have been configured, Click Finish.
- Close Display Management window.
- Proceed to Select and Connect to Your Display.
Manual Creation of Display
- Launch Venus 1500 v4.
- Click the Orange V application menu and click Configure > Displays.
- If 1st time setup of a display you will be prompted at startup of the software to configure a display and can hit the "yes" option to get to Step 4.
- Click Add Display.
- Allow Auto Discovery to try to discover any displays connected to the Network or click Cancel to stop the discovery process.
- If Auto Discovery fails to find the display or Cancel was selected in step above, Click My display is not in the list at the bottom of the screen.
- Click I want to manually create a display.
- Select appropriate options for Product Family, Series (If GalaxyPro), Height, Width, Color Technology, Player (If GalaxyPro), click Continue.
- Reference the following table if needing assistance locating your display's color technology: How do I configure the standard settings for Commercial Galaxy Displays in M2Config? , DD2241913.
- Select connection type: (This step is skipped if GalaxyPro series).
- Serial or Direct - If you are using a Serial communication option.
- Multiple primary displays connected to one serial communication method will utilize different hardware address. I.e. Primary 1/HW1, Primary 2/HW2 etc.
- Remote or Ethernet - If you are using an Ethernet communication option.
- Dial-Up or Modem - If you are using a Dialup Modem.
- Serial or Direct - If you are using a Serial communication option.
- Type or Select proper display's communication IP address or DHCP Name, COM port, Phone Number, click Continue.
- Type a Display Name, click Continue.
- Select proper display Time Zone and DST, click Continue.
- See What time zone needs to be selected for Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific, Hawaii or Alaska in the Venus 1500 Software , DD2202706 for more information on time zones.
- Click Yes if you have more then one display of the same type to create, or click No if you only have one display.
- Review Summary of display settings, click Finish.
- Click Yes to the Prompt to start downloading the Media Kit, or click No and follow How do I download the Venus 1500 V4 Media Kit? , DD1986681 on how to download Media Kit at a later time.
- Close Display Management window.
- Proceed to Select and Connect to Your Display.
Select and Connect to Your Display:
- Select display name from the Venus 1500 V4 Hub "Select a Display:" drop-down menu.
- Confirm date, time, and other display specs are populating under Display Status on the Home Tab.
- If display specific Status is populated you have successfully created and connected to the display.
