Prolific USB-Serial Adapter Driver Installation

Information

The Prolific USB-Serial adapter (A-1801) purchased from Daktronics comes with a disk which includes the driver for the cable.  If the driver needs to be reinstalled and the customer does not have the disk, the driver can be found by searching the Internet. 

Note: For Windows 7 computers, you will need to locate the driver on the Internet and download. Steps to load driver from disk:

  1. Insert the disk into the CD drive, go to My Computer and double-click to view folders
  2. double-click on the usb to serial cable folder

     
  3. select the correct operating system folder and double-click

     
  4. double-click on the install folder then

     
  5. double-click on the driver installer file and follow the final installation steps
 

Steps to download from the Internet:

  1. Copy the following link and paste it into an internet browser: http://www.prolific.com.tw/US/ShowProduct.aspx?p_id=225&pcid=41
  2. Click on PL2303 Prolific Driver Installer
  1. When window pops-up, select open to view the installer
  2. Double-click pl2303 prolific driver install the select extract all
  3. Click on next, next then finish
      
  4. Double-click pl2303 prolific driver installer setup.exe and follow the steps to install the driver
