Data Studio Hockey: How can I play test data to verify my content?

Topic

  • This feature plays a sample game through Data Studio Hockey to verify and test data received from Data Studio Hockey for display purposes
  • Use Game Replay as part of the pre-game checks for data-related content.

Environment

  • Product: Data Studio Hockey
  • Component: Hockey replay 
  • Control System: Daktronics Hockey System

Steps

  1. Log into Venus Control Suite. Venus Accounts: How do I log in to Venus Control Suite?
  2. On the Launchpad or in My Apps, click the Data Studio Hockey icon. 

🔽Use the arrows to open or collapse the following sections.

Add a provider for NHL Hockey (only needed on initial setup)

Create the game replay for Data Studio Hockey (test data)
  1.  Navigate to the  Stats Dashboard via the left sidebar. 
  2. Under your provider, click ▼ and choose Start Replay.

  1.  Enter the desired season, game, and speed for the replay data.

  1. The statistics will replay through the game.  This data can be now used to test out game graphics.
    • Use the replay menu (3 vertical dots) to jump to impactful points during the game to see the data change.

  1. In the replay window, the buttons act as follows:
    •  pauses the data.
    •  stops the data from updating. Note: Pressing stop will not clear the data. It stops it from updating.
    •  allows the user the scrub through the time of game.

 

Click on the stop button after completing any verifications. A paused replay will remain active in the system indefinitely unless it is concluded naturally, or a live game commences for the specified team.

Confirm the replay is stopped least 1 hour prior to the scheduled start of the game.
