Data Studio: Unable to add a cloud drive source, error "We're unable to complete your request"

Data Studio employs OAuth to ensure a secure connection throughout this workflow.

Cause

When trying to access Data Studio from a different computer than the one with VCS installed (such as `SCS-P`), and the VCS computer name is `VCS-BBall` (as opposed to the standard `venus-p`), there is a challenge.

The Data Studio App Registration in the Azure Portal contains a list of valid Redirect URIs, but it cannot accommodate a machine-name based URI for every custom VCS computer name for an on-premises instance (like `VCS-BBall`).

Resolution

  • Create the source directly on the computer with `Venus Control Suite` installed.
  • Switch to the Venus computer on the KVM or use VNC to remotely access the Venus computer.
