Shot Clock: How to isolate the shot clock horn from the game clock horn (with relay card)
Topic
- How to remove, stop, or prevent the shot clock from sounding on the game horn?
- Is there a way to keep the shot clock horn from sounding when the game clock horn sounds? (e.g. when buzzing in players for a substitution).
- Is there a way to make the shot clock horn only sound when the shot clock time reaches zero?
- Is there a way to stop the shot clock horn from sounding when the manual horn button is pressed on the All Sport Console?
- Small Venue; it is too loud when Shot Clock and Scoreboard horns sound at the same time.
- The shot clock does have a relay card and horn card.
- If the shot clock does not have a relay card or horn card see KB: Shot Clock: How to isolate the shot clock horn from the game clock horn (without relay card)
Environment
- Product: Shot Clock; examples BB-2115, BB-2109
- Component:
- Control System: All Sport 5000
Steps
- Determine if your shot clock is wired like Option A or Option B?
- Option A; example DWG-01045024
- Grey wire from A4 Horn Suppression Card P2/J2-1 wires to A3 Relay Card at TB1-3. This wiring will be the difference.
- Grey wire jumper on A3 Relay Card between TB1-2 and TB1-3. This wiring will be the same on both options.
- Option B; example DWG-00202716
- Grey wire from A4 Horn Suppression Card P2/J2-1 wires to A3 Relay Card at TB1-2. This wiring will be the difference.
- Grey wire jumper on A3 Relay Card between TB1-2 and TB1-3. This wiring will be the same on both options.
- Option A; example DWG-01045024
- Option A&B; Apply this step for both wiring options:
- Remove the grey jumper on A3 Relay Card between TB1-2 and TB1-3 which shorts the game clock (pink wire) and shot clock (blue wire) together.
- Option B; this additional step is only required for Option B wiring:
- Move the other grey wire (mentioned in step 1-2-1 above) from TB1-2 to TB1-3.
- Verify horn change:
- Only the Game Clock Horn sounds when:
- Pressing the manual horn button on the All Sport.
- Main Game Clock counts down to zero.
- Only the Shot Clock Horn sounds when:
- Shot Clock counts down to zero.
- Only the Game Clock Horn sounds when:
Note 1: The dip switches on the A3 Relay Card have no effect on when the horn sounds, but only affect visual/light strip activation (TB3 & TB4).
Note 2: When the manual horn button is pressed, only the game clock bit (J7-5) is triggered, J7-4 is not.
J7-4 = shot clock horn bit = segment F, blue wire
J7-5 = game clock horn bit = segment E, pink wire
