Venus Display Control: How do I enable?

Enable Venus Display Control for LCD displays.
Enable the ability schedule changes for volume, power, brightness etc.

Environment

  • Product: Venus Select, Venus Professional, Venus Enterprise
  • Components: DMP-8122, DWP, Venus Display Control Apps
    • LCD NOTE: RS-232 LCD Display Control in VCS is only supported on select display models from: LG, Samsung, NEC and ELO purchased from Daktronics.
  • Control System: Venus Cloud-Based

Steps

Admin roles can turn Display Control on from the Displays App. 

  1. Open Venus Display App from the Apps Menu located in the top right of the VCS landing page. Venus: My navigation has changed after updates.
  2. On the Displays page, click on the display that needs Display Control enabled. 
  3. Select the Configuration tab. 
  4. Under Display Control, select On.   
  5. Save Changes.

Enter the following.

  1. Plan Type The advanced control plan allows users to define inputs for each of the screen ID associated to that display. This would be using one display in Venus but actually controlling multiple physical displays (in a videowall configuration for example).
  2. Manufacturer Select the make of the display. If it's DWP (LG webOS) the rest of the fields are not required.  For external players, each field is required.  
  3. Media Player Input Type of connection between the player and the display.
  4. Com Port The com port number in use by that display.
  5. Screen ID Enter a one- or two-character screen ID.
