Data Studio: How do I integrate with a cloud drive data source on a Venus cloud hosted system

Topic

The article outlines the process of working with a Microsoft Excel file stored on Microsoft OneDrive. Data Studio employs OAuth to ensure a secure connection throughout this workflow.

Environment

  • Product: Data Studio
  • Component: Cloud drive data source, Oauth Source
  • Control System: Venus Control Suite cloud hosted (Professional and Enterprise)

For local Venus Systems: Data Studio: How to use excel as a data source saved on local server

Google Sheets

  • Pros: Effective for non-live updates.
  • Cons: Auto-updates with every cell change, leading to incremental updates in Data Studio.

Excel (hosted on OneDrive)

  • Pros: Updates happen all at once when the Save/Refresh function is executed, making it more suitable for live events.
  • Cons: Requires manual save/refresh for updates.

If you anticipate live updates during an event, Excel on OneDrive might be the better choice. For static or non-live updates, Google Sheets should work just fine.
