DMP: Daktronics default content

Topic

Newly installed controllers use Daktronics default content to help with verification.

The intent of the default content is to allow an installer to verify that the display is working correctly and has connectivity to the internet in the event that the customer has not yet scheduled content to the display.

The way the default content is intended to work is to show a locally installed piece of content for a short period of time in order to ensure the modem or other internet connection has time to boot up, then switch to a web-based piece of content that will light up the entire display for a short period of time.

The following describes how the default content will work when regular content has not yet been scheduled to the display, please note that if regular content has been scheduled, the first image below will only show for a few seconds before the scheduled content starts to play.

  • At the end of the normal boot sequence the black background with blue Daktronics logo will show for 30-60 seconds.
  • As long as no content has been scheduled the default content should change as stated below.

The blue background with white Daktronics logo

  • The next piece of default content is web-based and is a blue background with a white Daktronics logo and will play for 5 mins. then go blank. If you would like to see this again, you will need to reboot.
  • The blue background/white logo content is web-based and indicates that there is internet connectivity and lights up all the modules.
    • If this content doesn’t show and the display is blank there is a good chance that the display doesn’t have internet connectivity.
In summary, the new default content will only show on a reboot of the display for a few seconds if content is already scheduled.  When no content is scheduled, including on a reboot outside of hours of operation, you’ll see a black background/blue logo piece for up to 1 min. then switch to a web-based blue background/white logo for 5 minutes, then blank.
