Display Studio How do I build a select data/stats button with a Data Studio source?

Selected statistics can be used to display individual or comparative analysis of data from Data Studio. The presentation is crafted in Content Studio, and the data selection is made possible through a button in Display Studio.

Steps
Use the arrows to open and collapse the following sections.
Content Creation
The content's data requires configuration and sourcing from Data Studio.
In Content Studio:
- Begin with an existing or new presentation.
- Import any background images. More details are here: Content Studio: How do I import images or videos?
- From the Dynamic Data Library, click and drag the needed elements into your canvas. More details are here: Content Studio: How do I create presentations with data elements?
Individual player data
- In the Dynamic Data Library, choose the Category from the drop down.
- Choose the Provider. This example uses Football: Data Studio. Other Data Studio sport sources should also work to show comparison data.
Example Data
Navigate to Game Stats > Home > Roster ...
- Jersey or Player number
- Full Name or FamilyName (last name)
- Position
- Stats
This example will show a football player's offensive stats:
Player comparison data
- In the Dynamic Data Library, choose the Category from the drop down.
- Choose the Provider. This example uses Football: Data Studio. Other Data Studio sport sources should also work to show comparison data.

- Text headers can be added to help identify each data element.
- Align and Space the elements out. Be sure to leave space for longer names, double digits, etc. More details are here: Content Studio: How do I align my elements
- Adjust the filter on the data. For instance, you can filter by position and/or school, which simplifies the process of selecting statistics in Display Studio. More details can be found here: Content Studio: How do I create filtered and sorted data lists that compare player information?
- Finish the content with any media RTD or graphics. Show Control System: How do I create content with sport media RTD fields?
- Save the presentation.
Select Stats in Display Studio version 4.12+
- In Dispaly Studio, create a new script button. For the basics, see: Display Studio: How do I create script buttons in a Daktronics Show Control System
- Choose the zone/window the button will be controlling. Use the search bar above the zones to filter zones if needed.
- On step 3️⃣ of the button configuration, choose Play.
- Choose the content to be played by clicking Add and browse to the correct folder housing the presentation. Content with selectable data will have a yes under Selectable Data.
Select stats for the individual player.
On step 4️⃣, define any data perimeters for the stat election by checking the Prompt box. These will be the data options that the user can manually enter from when clicking on the button.
- When showing an individual player, the Position is can be entered. This will refine button results to just that position.
- Optionally, you can select a color for the button by choosing the color swatch located in the top right-hand corner.
- Continue repeating the previously mentioned steps to generate additional script lines as needed.
- Once done, click 'save' and then test the button by clicking on it.
Player out the button and select the player's data.
Upon clicking the button configured for 'select stat', a slide-out will appear. The items displayed in this list will vary depending on any filters applied to the presentation or the button's configuration.
- Pick the appropriate data from the list or type in one of the prompt options. Or manually enter the jersey number to highlight the player.
- Click Accept to send the content and data to the display.

Script button creation

Within the scripting container, right click and select New Button.
- Choose the player the button will be controlling.
- Choose the zone/window the button will be controlling. Use the search bar above the zones to filter zones if needed.
- Choose the button's function. For this, choose, Play, Add to Playlist or Create Playlist.
- Choose the content to be played by clicking Add and navigating to the correct folder housing the desired content. Content with selectable data will have a yes under Selectable Data.
Play configuration
Default Data: Entering data into the box will create a default for which data will be played out depending on the filter you choose.
If prompt is not checked, the default data will play.

Play out the button.
If the prompt button is selected, a slide out will appear when the button is clicked.
- Type in the appropriate data.
- Click Accept to send the content and data to the display.
