Steps

Remote steps (try first)
  1. Install EDID drivers on VIP
    1. Start telnet session with the VIP-4060.
      1. Start>run>cmd.
      2. Once in the command prompt type the following "telnet ip address of VIP" Ex: telnet 192.168.0.112 .
    2. Login to the VIP.
      • Username: Dak
      • No password
    3. At the prompt type the /sbin/insmod m4edid command and press Enter.
      • NOTE: If the command is successful in running there will simply be a line return as seen below:
        • Dak@M41290 ~ $ /sbin/insmod m4edid
        • Dak@M41290 ~ $
  2. Verify digital display on remote computer
    1. Restart the remote computer and VIP after reinstalling EDID driver.
    2. Verify via the on-site computer whether or not the “Digital Display” option is present in the graphics card properties.
      • If yes, set the desktop as the Primary display and Secondary to the digital display.
        • For Billboards using DMP-8000, Click the "Multiple displays" drop down and select Extend these displays.
        • Some Billboards using Third Party players may need to set the "Multiple displays" option to Duplicate these displays.
      • If no, proceed to “Re-try the Installation of Drivers” listed below.
  • Re-try the installation of drivers
    1. If unsuccessful in discovering the “Digital Display” once having installed the drivers we will need to type the /sbin/rmmod m4edid command followed by pressing Enter in order remove them.
    2. Once removed re-install them again by typing /sbin/insmod m4edid followed by pressing Enter.
    3. Repeat the steps under "Verifying digital display on remote computer".
      • If yes, set the desktop as the Primary display and Secondary to digital display.
      • If no, repeat the process of “Retrying the Installation of Drivers”
        • Utilize this process for 5 to 10 tries, if unsuccessful, you will need On-site Service to resolve the problem. See steps below for what to perform while on-site to resolve the issue.

On-site steps
  1. Disconnect the DVI Cable from the VIP-4060.
  2. Un-Plug Power to the VIP-4060.
  3. Locate jumper behind the DVI port on VIP-4060.

  4. Move the jumper across pin 1 and 2 to the +3.3V position (Pin 1 is the furthest from the DVI cable and the top uncovered pin in the above picture).
    • NOTE: The VIP’s DVI jumpers will more than likely be on 2 and 3 to start with as seen in the picture above.
  5. Connect DVI Cable back up to the VIP-4060.
  6. Power Back on the VIP-4060.
  7. Perform the steps listed at the beginning of this article for “Installing EDID Drivers to VIP”. (Only remote steps section 1. Dont go to the remote steps section 2.)
  8. Power Back Down the VIP. Power down the Computer as well. (Not "restarting", it requires a full power down to both.)
  9. Re-Locate jumper across pins 2 and 3 to the +VDVI position (middle 2 pins as seen above).
  10. Power Back on VIP and then computer, and verify if “Digital Display” is present.
