DVN Series, NPN Series: ProLink 8 display content scrambled but shows fine in monitors, PL timing faster than DDR memory.
Potential Symptoms
- Content scrambled on display.
- Test patterns show fine.
- Monitors show content playing fine.
- VP or DI-6000 is only using one output on an output card
- Version previous to 24.0
Environment
- Product: ProLink 6.2, DVN-3000, NPN-4100
- Component: VP-6000, DI-6000 ver. 18
- Control System:
Cause
- ProLink 6.2 timing is faster than DDR memory.
Resolution
- Update 6000 to version 24 or greater.
- Note: to help ensure systems ship from the factory correctly configured the 6000 Config Tool was updated so this configuration error will be checked for during design time and automatically set if needed.
- Check and set the "PL62SingeOutputHack" checkbox in advanced config if needed. The 6000 will automatically set the canvas size to a safe value.
- Path: Advanced -> Vidprocs -> Static Video Processing Engine (for the desired PL6.2 Card) -> Config -> PL62SingleOutputHack
- Path: Advanced -> Vidprocs -> Static Video Processing Engine (for the desired PL6.2 Card) -> Config -> PL62SingleOutputHack
- Once you enable the output hack, make sure the 6000 is set back to active as it will set itself as inactive sometimes.
- Note: Be sure to set hack for the P2K card that handles Prolink Output - if It is a VP-6000 that is ordinarily card 3, for DI-6000 there is just one card to do processing and Prolink output
For Temporary Operation
- Increase Static Engine canvas width.
- If using a single output, content should not be more than 82%. Use a canvas width value greater than [Display Width]/.82. you may change the canvas width in the advanced>vidproc>cardN static engine>config part of the UI.
Note: Be sure to set width increase for the P2K card that handles Prolink Output - if It is a VP-6000 that is ordinarily card 3, for DI-6000 there is just one card to do processing and Prolink output - Canvas output that are split between multiple outputs on a single card on a 6000 (such as a Left/Right split), will not need canvas size to be increased.
- I.E. the canvas might be a left/right split, but they use multiple output cards with only a single output on each card. This would still require the increase in width.
Locations that have had the canvas need to be tracked. Please link this KB and note in the case what changes were made.
