Can't Connect to the DMP after changing the Auxiliary IP on a NTCIP Controller.
Potential Symptoms
- Can't communicate with controller.
- Can connect to VIP's interface, but not the DMP's.
- Auxiliary IP is within range of Primary IP.
Environment
- Product: Vanguard Display
- Component: VFC, DMP-5060
- Control System: NTCIP Software
Cause
- The Primary IP was set to be within range of the Auxiliary IP.
Resolution
- Change IP schemes. The Primary IP cannot be the same as the IP of the Auxiliary port.
- You can change the Auxiliary IP from the LCD screen of the VFC controller.
- If using the DMP-5060 or no LCD Screen is available. You will need to change the Primary IP address to something different temporarily to regain access to the DMP web UX.
For Temporary Operation
- Setting both Subnets to 255.255.255.0:
- Cannot match the first two octets as that will be the established networks.
- Example: Primary=10.10.10.12 and Auxiliary=10.10.20.22 >Causes Failure.
- Example: Primary=10.11.20.22 and Auxiliary= 10.10.20.22> No Failure.
- Since 10.11 and 10.10 are different, these IPs are on separate networks, so they will not conflict.
- Setting both Subnets to 255.255.0.0
- The same rules apply.
- Using Subnet 255.255.0.0 isolates the first two octets as the network. matching these octets would cause conflict.
- Setting both Subnets to 255.255.248.0: (seen on customer networks).
- Rule does not apply you can achieve using the same first octets as long third octets are not too close or the same.
- Example: Primary=10.10.102.22 and Auxiliary=10.10.101.2.> Causes Failure.
- Example: Primary=10.10.5.22 and Auxiliary=10.10.101.22> No Failure.
