How to update firmware on a VFC-3000 controller using DFTP software

  • Component: VFC-3000, DDMS or M2/M3 controller types
  • Control System: DFTP Software

Cause

  • Need to update the NTCIP version on the VFC-3000

Resolution

  1. Connect your computer to the controller's Ethernet port via an Ethernet cable.
  2. Set your IP to be within range of the controller's IP address.
  3. Open DFTP Software. DFTP Install
  4. Enter the controller's IP Address in the IP Address window.
  5. Click on the connect button. (DFTP software only communicates on port 161. You may need to change that on the controller temporarily.
    1. If necessary to change the controllers IP port:
    2. Go to the following controller menu's:
    3. Configuration
    4. Communication Configuration
    5. Ethernet Control Port
    6. IP Settings
    7. Controller IP Port.
    8. Note the controllers IP address, as you will need to know it later.
  6. Click on the file in the Local and Remote windows to highlight it.
    • When updating controller firmware, select the firmware file in the Remote window first, then the Local window so it is highlighted on both sides.
  7. Click on the >> button to copy it over to the remote target location.
  8. Click on Issue reset.
  9. Click on the Disconnect button and close DFTP.
  10. Log back into the controller and change the IP port to what it was set to before.
