VFC Controller: How to update firmware on a VCB

Steps

Method 1: Updating locally with a USB memory stick.
  1. Download the VCB Display Interface firmware(s) Link to VCB firmware  to your memory stick. Choose VFC-DMP505x.
  2. Download the files that the arrows here indicate
    1. Capture.PNG
  3. Insert the memory stick into J3 on the back of the VFC. (Kingston brand is preferred, other brands might not work)
  4. Log into the VFC by pressing enter on the keypad.
  5. Enter the password and press enter again.
  6. Select Shared.
  7. Select Update.
  8. Select Display.
  9. Select DD2295229_vcb_ii_micro_production_bootload_hid1F00.hex
  10. Select Confirm.
  11. Wait for it to say success on all steps. Wait for it to finish 100%.
  12. Select Shared.
  13. Select Update.
  14. Select Display.
  15. Select DD2295229_vcb_ii_epld_production_bootload_hid1F00.hex
  16. Select Confirm.
  17. Wait for it to say success on all steps. Wait for it to finish 100%.
Method 2: Updating remotely through the webpage interface.
  1. Open an internet browser to log into the VIP board's web interface.
    1. For assistance accessing the VIP web interface, contact Daktronics Technical Support.
  2. You will be prompted to enter the username and password in the popup window.
    1. If credentials are unknown, contact Daktronics Technical Support.
  3. Select Firmware from the Dashboard.
  4. Select Update and browse to the VCB micro file. Example: DD2295229_vcb_ii_micro_production_bootload_hid1F00.hex.
  5. Click on the open button.
  6. Wait for it to finish 100%.
  7. Select Update and browse to the VCB epld file. Example: DD2295229_vcb_ii_epld_production_bootload_hid1F00.hex.
  8. Click on the open button.
  9. Wait for it to finish 100%.
