How to load a custom translation table on to a VFC

Topic

  • How do I upload a custom translation table on a VFC?

Environment

  • Product Family:  Transportation
  • Product:  VF, VM, VX, or VC6 displays
  • Component:  VFC
  • Control System:  Vanguard, NTCIP software

Steps

Method 1: Upload Translation Table using USB
  1. Store the translation table onto a thumb drive.  If the sign requires a custom translation table, it can be found on the sign's site config sheet.
  2. Extract the TT hex file from the folder as the VFC won't "see" it if it's in a folder.
  3. Insert the thumb drive into J3 on the back of the controller.
  4. Log into Sign 1 of the controller.
  5. Select Configuration.
  6. Select System.
  7. Select Required.
  8. Select Translation Table.
  9. Select Custom.
  10. Select the translation table.
Method 2: Upload Translation Table using Web Interfaces
  1. Store the translation table ZIP folder on the Desktop of the computer you are using to connect to the controller. If the sign requires a custom translation table, it can be found on the sign's site config sheet.
  2. Extract the ZIP folder, as the HEX file must be unzipped before it can be loaded onto the VIP.
  3. Connect to the DMP's web interface by entering the controller's IP followed by port 80 in a web browser.
    1. EX: 10.10.10.10:80
  4. Select the NTCIP (Car) Icon from the left side of the screen.
  5. Log in to Sign 1 of the controller.
  6. Select Configuration.
  7. Select System.
  8. Select Required.
  9. Select Translation Table.
  10. Select None.
  11. Wait for "changing translation table" to show success.
  12. Connect to the VIP's web interface by entering the controller's IP followed by port 85 in a web browser.
    1. EX: 10.10.10.10:85
  13. Select the Output tile from the Dashboard.
  14. Select Upload in the Translation Table section.
  15. Wait for the process to show 100%.
  16. Verify the Display Information section now accurately reflects the display type.
  17. Select Save.
