Spencer Degen is Vice President for Transportation, the Daktronics business unit that includes Intelligent Transportation Systems, Public Transit, Aviation and Parking. In this role, Spencer supports the entire Transportation team, exploring innovative ways to bring new technologies to their core markets, while supporting success in both product fulfillment and customer service.
During his career at Daktronics, Spencer has emphasized customer engagement, working in project management and sales, as well as leading project support teams.
Before his current position, he led the Project teams for the Commercial, High School and Transportation markets, which included Project Management, Project Coordination and Copy Management.
He was Facilities Manager from 2005-2009, when Daktronics doubled its physical space to over a million square feet, including a new corporate headquarters in Brookings, SD, and plant startups in Sioux Falls, SD, Redwood Falls, MN, and Victor, NY.
Before that, Spencer was Project Manager for large complex projects in the College/University market, the Major League Sports market, and the Stadium, Arenas and Auditoriums market. He was also the Project Management Supervisor for the Great lakes Region and Eastern Canada.
Outside his work at Daktronics, Spencer supports United Way, as a board member for many years and as president for one year. He is also the president of his golf course board.
He enjoys outdoor activities, including golfing, hunting and boating, and he attends his kids’ many sporting events and cheering on the SDSU Jackrabbits.
Spencer earned his degree in construction management at South Dakota State University, with a minor in business economics.
