As Vice President for IT and Business Development, Rich Hintz focuses on the long-term direction and strategy for serving Daktronics employees and customers through technology. He engages across the organization to determine best practices for applying changing technology and to effectively manage data. He also provides leadership for our Digital Transformation initiatives.
Rich started Daktronics as a student employee, working in animation, customer service and the repair center. He then left to work for Gateway 2000 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He also founded two consulting firms that focused on information systems, networking, software development, information security and technical training.
He returned to Daktronics in 2008 as a product and engineering manager and in 2012 became responsible for IT.
Rich serves on the Cyber Security Industry Advisory Board at Dakota State University and the Computer Information Systems Board at Southeast Technical College.
He has two grown children, and his family and faith are very important to him. Rich has participated in several mission trips to South America, Central America and Africa.
In his spare time, Rich enjoys woodworking, fishing, and working on retro electronics from the 70s and 80s.
Rich earned both a BS in information systems and an MBA from Dakota State University. He also earned a Master of Arts in interdisciplinary studies from the University of South Dakota.
