As the Vice President for International markets, Judd Guthmiller leads sales, coordination and project management teams outside the US and Canada. He is responsible for driving and growing international business as well as aligning customer types, geographies and teams to meet customer goals. Judd spends about a third of his time traveling worldwide to conventions, trade shows, Daktronics locations, and meeting with international customers to meet their needs.
Previously, Judd was a Project Manager, expanding the Daktronics presence in the Asia Pacific markets, starting with China in 2007. Eventually, his responsibilities included leading Europe, the Middle East and Latin America project management teams.
Prior to serving the international markets, he worked as a Designer for Sports and Commercial systems, Supervisor for Technical Service teams, and Project Manager for Major League sports.
He took a brief hiatus from Daktronics in 2005 to start his own decorative concrete business, designing creations such as countertops, landscape edging and more.
His love of working and traveling internationally began during his college days, when Judd traveled with his father to work as an electrician on industrial and commercial job sites for months at a time. When he helped integrate the Daktronics Ireland facility, he and his family lived in Ireland for a summer, providing his boys an international experience, much like he had with his father.
Judd was a board member for the South Dakota World Affairs Council. He sat on his church’s board, serving as vice president and president. He also helped implement the Sioux Valley School District video display systems.
In his spare time, Judd and his family spend as much time as possible on the lake. He also enjoys woodworking and restoring vintage cars and motorcycles.
Judd earned his degree at the University of South Dakota in business, with an emphasis in administration.
